Keeping your skin and hair healthy

We all know that healthy skin and hair are two great ways to stay looking young and beautiful. It’s not always easy to maintain our perfect health habits and stay looking our best, especially when busy schedules get in the way. How can we get enough sleep to have fresh looking skin or go in for regular hair treatments amidst the busy daily life? Well luckily, there are plenty of ways to maintain your healthy skin and hair without spending too much time or money. And the fact is that healthy skin and hair reflect a healthy body, so when you take care of your whole body, your hair and skin will glow as well. The winter weather and strong summer sun is especially harsh on hair and skin, but you can use these tips all year long to maintain that fresh and healthy glow.

Eat right

Your diet is a major factor in the health of not only your body but your hair and skin as well. When you eat a diet rich in organic foods with many vitamins, you’ll be helping your skin and hair regenerate their cells and look their best. Also, you want to eat a diet rich in monounsaturated fats and omega 3 fatty acids. These are the building blocks of healthy skin and hair. Think olive oil, fatty fish like salmon and tuna, eggs, avocados and almonds. Also, foods rich in Vitamin C like oranges and dark leafy greens can help boost collagen production, which is what makes your skin look firm and smooth. Whole grains contain something called selenium, which is what brings elasticity to your face. This is something that you want if your skin feels very dry, or if you start to see wrinkles coming on. Whole grains like quinoa, brown rice and even aromatic veggies such as onions and garlic are a great source of selenium.

Also, a quick and easy tip is to drink tons of water! Staying hydrated is great for your skin, and is probably the number one way to keep it fresh and healthy. Try to avoid drinking too much alcohol because this dehydrates the skin and works against all your efforts to keep it looking healthy and radiant.

Natural remedies

While choosing the best anti-aging creams are important, there are lots of natural remedies that you can put on your skin and hair that will help them achieve a fresh, healthy look. Coconut oil is fantastic for both skin and hair. You can use coconut oil as a natural makeup remover and use it to condition the hair. Another great leave-in treatment for hair is made from raw eggs, olive oil and avocado. Mix these together and put them on your hair, to leave in for an hour or so. Wash out and your hair will be smooth as silk. You can repeat this treatment several times per month for the optimal condition. Similarly, you can use a face mask made of egg whites and Greek yogurt to really clarify your skin and add some healthy oils. Or try natural oil products like Argan Oil that can really rejuvenate skin’s appearance. This product is natural and healthy for your skin, and so lightweight that it doesn’t feel oily or greasy.
